What’s the difference between self-storage and managed storage? It’s really just depends on how you want to store your things. You might want to get frequent access to your belongings, using your storage facility as a secure “extension” to your house, in which case self-storage is the better option.
Alternatively, you might only want very occasional access or you might just want your things sent on to you - for example, as part of a staged house move. In such circumstances, managed storage is better, leaving us to do the handling for you.
What’s the difference between purpose-built storage and other facilities? Purpose-built storage using specially designed storage rooms means that your belongings will be kept secure and in perfect condition. Some storage operators just offer metal storage containers like the ones you see at container docks. Such containers were never designed for storage and they can expose your belongings to the risk of dampness and extremes of temperature, which can cause lasting damage. Access can be awkward and give rise to various health and safety issues. In addition to all these drawbacks, container storage is frequently found on sites where there is inadequate security, with containers simply stacked outside a warehouse.
